1.9 Nailing Recommendations
1.9.1 Internal House Floors
- Our recommendation: 19mm Structaflor® at 450 centres (Yellow Tongue).
- Other choices:
- 22mm Structaflor® at 600 centres (Red Tongue) - Not our recommendation as irrespective of whether steel or timber joists are used, tiles may crack in wet areas around floor waste areas.
- Ply sheet flooring.
Framing & Coil nail guns are the only nail guns that can successfully nail the sheet flooring to the DuraGal Flooring System®. Listed below are the various types of nail guns & hard steel twist nails that can be used.

The Paslode® hard steel twist nail is one of the most versatile nails on the market at the moment. It will fit a wide variety of nail guns such as:
- Paslode® framing gun (compressor driven)
- Paslode® Impulse framing gun (cordless gas)
- Senco® framing gun
- Fasco® framing gun
- Hitachi® framing gun
- Jambro® framing gun
- Apache® framing gun
1.9.2 Nailing Decks
- Decks are to be nailed with stainless steel nails (definitely not screwed) due to a screw hole allowing water into the GAL140TM joist.
- Nailing along with the use of Joist sealing tape seals the nail hole thus preventing water seepage and internal corrosion.
- Nailing options available:
- GKN class 3 galvanised hard steel twist nails. These nails will fit the following COIL nail guns, Max® CN-650M-F, Hitachi® 65AF3, Senco® SN578, Bostich® N63.
- Max® nail 2.5 x 38mm long 304 Stainless Steel Hard Steel Twist Nail. These nails will fit the following COIL nail guns, Max® CN-650M-F, Hitachi® 65AF3, Senco® SN578, Bostich® N63.
1.9.3 Number of Nails Per Sheet
- 3600x600 sheets of Structaflor require 38 nails @ 450 centres and 30 nails @ 600 centres.
- 3600x900 sheets of Structaflor require 49 nails @ 450 centres and 39 nails @ 600 centres.
- Remember the glue.
